What is Good

K, Hufman, student work.
I really like the simplicity of the packaging, it also actually reveals the pin pong balls through the acetate/plastic cover. He has used 2 colours aswell keeping it really simple.

Print task 4 Information & Wayfinding
Subtle embossing onto flyers, this allows the image to still be the main focal point but still keeps the type legible.
This isn't a printing technique but cutting fresh type into metal, niceeeeee

Print task 4 Packaging & Promotion
Black varnish on black substrate
The varnish on the black stock makes the text just kind of sit out from the page, it gives the stock a kind of texture as well. Using varnish allows you to be able to experiment with colour schemes such as black on black.
Silver foil block on plastic
Foil on clear plastic gives the product a good crisp finish, this is a interesting combination, i had never though of using foiling on plastic. The foil gives the piece of a work a very professional looking finish.

Moulded plastic cover
This plastic moulded cover produces a 3D effect on the outside of the book. The simplicity of the design is made good by using the 3D mould. The colour scheme also plays upon using the text and emphasising it.
Board substrate with embossed broderie pattern and bronze foil stamped text
Silver Foil block title
The cover layout of this magazine is very minimal, the foil printed title gives it a clear focal point against the image. The foil also works well with the actual context of the magazine.

Text reversed out of a pearlescent varnish
This is type of printing technique used in this way allows you to concentrate on the stock an aspect of the design which i really like. The UV varnish sits on the page well and the gloss of the varnish just add's to the stock. The only worry is that the readability of the text can go down if the typeface doesnt work with the stock and varnish.Print Task 4 Branding & Identity

Design Embossed into Gold astrolux mirror board
Embossing... on Gold. pretty awesome stuff. The gold mirror board combined with embossing gives it a really clean finish.

Silver Foil Stamp into greyboard for minimalist effect
The simple design combined with foil stamping on good stock is a recipe for crisp design. Even though there isnt much on the page the silver foiled design sits well in the corner and the grainy grey type stock helps to break up the background. Simple effective design like this is what interests me most when designing for print.
