Studio 2br New Work

Studio 2br New Work

This is a editorial piece done by Studio 2Br, on the cover it looks like the logo has been printed with a coated varnish, this makes the logo stand out to be glossy and shiny. Because the logo has been printed in this way it stands out over the page cover well but at the same time doesn't crowd the page.

SI Special Homework: Part 1

SI Special Homework: Part 1

This is a Cover done by SI specail, the cover has a glossy finish and it has been embossed, the top cover shows this but more as the embossing is against a darker background but the bottom cover doesn't seem to be glossy and the light colour makes the embossing less visible.

Brand & Identity

Manual Creative: High res Special

Manual Creative: High res Special

This is a brand identity for done by Sam Tootal for himself, the finishes used are embossing and rubber stamping. The Stock he used is a slight off white/antique white, the red sits on the stock well and it feels like it works well. The stock also breaks up the harsh white background which is often the case with normal white card or paper.

Ramon Marin Updated

Ramon Marin Updated

This is a brand Identity done for nike by Ramon Marin. The print finishes in this include, gold foil printing and embossing. The gold foil stock which has been stitched onto the book has yellow/gold embossing done on it and then just straight embossing on the gold foil, this leaves him with a stock colour and a yellow on the foil, it helps breaking up the information on the page and the focal points.

MadeThought

This has been made by a studio called madethought, theres not a lot of information on this but it instantly drew my attention the sides of the card seem to be gold foil.

Foil blocking

Foil blocking has been developed using the letterpress principle. A male block is produced using zinc, magnesium, copper or brass. These are process engraved.
The block is heated on press and a metallic or coloured foil is branded on to the material. Foiled logos are incorporated into many corporate identities, used especially on corporate invitations, business cards, letter headings and compliment slips.

Foiling & Embossing

Foiling and embossing can be used on the same image, firstly foiled and then embossed. Again logos are incorporated into many corporate identities, used especially on corporate invitations, business cards, letter headings and compliment slips.
A highly cost effective way to add metallic colour to all or part of printed products.
Fully compatible with laser printers.
Ideal for Invitations, business cards, letter headings and compliment slips ect.
We can print to order on any thickness of material.
Ideal for use in conjunction with thermography, embossing and lithography.

Embossing

Embossing uses the same principle as die stamping. A female block is produced using zinc, magnesium, copper, brass or steel. These are process engraved to one depth or hand engraved to multiple depths.
In simple terms the material to be embossed is pushed into the die using a male counterforce.
Embossing can be used to raise a printed or foiled image. It also used to “Blind Emboss” images, this raises the image on plain paper.
Embossed logos are incorporated into many corporate identities, used especially on corporate invitations, business cards, letter headings and compliment slips.
A highly cost effective way to raise images from a plain or printed.
Fully compatible with laser printers.
Ideal for Invitations, business cards, letter headings and compliment slips etc.

Spot Colour
Spot colour seems to work well when it comes to showing different types of products within a brand, the single colour on each bottle makes it instantly recognizable to be a different flavour of drink but still the same brand.
